The
Kingdom of God and the Church
THE
LORD Jesus laid out nine qualities of spirit that open the way for a believer
to know the realities of Gods kingdom.
We call these qualities "The Beatitudes." It is the Holy Spirit,
not our self effort, that will effect these qualities in us.
LORD, in my poverty of spirit I come to You. I lay aside the rags of my own goodness. Theyre filthy. Please deal with my haughty pride and unteachable spirit. I renounce my own efforts to become good enough to live in Your Kingdom. With humility I ask You to work in me the ways of Your Kingdom. The poor of this world are the ones who are close to becoming heirs of the Kingdom.Jas 2:5; Mic 6:8 DAY 2Grief over ones spiritual poverty makes way for the comfort of Gods Kingdom. Mt 5:4 Blessed are
they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Jn 14:16 And
I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that
He may abide with you for ever
DAY 3A gentle kindness will be at work in those mature enough to inherit the Kingdom. Mt 5:5 Blessed are
the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. II Tim 2:24,25a
And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all
men, apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those that oppose
themselves
DAY 4Those with strong desire to be right with God can find fullness in His Kingdom. Mt 5:6 Blessed are
they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be
filled. Isa 26:9a With my soul have I desired Thee in the
night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek Thee early
Lk 1:53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the
rich he hath sent empty away. DAY 5Those who show mercy to others can find mercy for themselves in Gods Kingdom. Mt 5:7 Blessed are
the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Ps 25:10 All
the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep His Covenant
and his testimonies. DAY 6Those who give their hearts to purity can find an intimate relationship with God in His Kingdom. Mt 5:8 Blessed are
the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Ps 15:1,2 LORD,
who shall abide in Thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in Thy holy hill? He
that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth
in his heart. DAY 7Being a peacemaker is a quality of one mature enough to function in the Kingdom. Mt 5:9 Blessed are
the peacemakers: for they shall be called the *children of God.
Heb 12:14,15 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which
no man shall see the Lord: looking diligently lest any man fail
of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble
you, and thereby many be defiled. DAY 8Those who give themselves to Gods King- dom find persecution is a blessed thing. Mt 5:10 Blessed
are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the
Kingdom of Heaven. Isa 51:7 Hearken unto Me, ye that know righteousness,
the people in whose heart is My Law; fear ye not the reproach of men,
neither be ye afraid of their revilings. DAY 9Persecution is actually cause for a child of the Kingdom to rejoice. Mt 5:11,12 Blessed
are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all
manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding
glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the Prophets
which were before you. Acts 5:41 And they departed from
the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to
suffer shame for His Name. Children of the Kingdom carry a remedy for the corruption that is in the world. Even though they may be persecuted, their very presence in the land is a healing force with an effect for righteousness. DAY 10Corruption is driven back when children of the Kingdom maintain their purity. Mt 5:13 Ye are the
salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall
it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out,
and to be trodden under foot of men. Col 4:6 Let your speech
be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought
to answer every man. DAY 11Darkness is dispelled when children of the Kingdom let their light shine. Mt 5:14-16 Ye are
the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither
do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick;
and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so
shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your
Father Which is in Heaven. Pro 4:18 But the path of the
just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect
day. DAY 12Gods perfect righteousness can find its fulfillment in a child of the Kingdom. Mt 5:17,18 Think
not that I am come to destroy the Law, or the Prophets: I am not come
to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and
earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the Law,
till all be fulfilled. Gal 4:4,5 But when the fulness of
the time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under
The Law, to redeem them that were under The Law, that we might receive
the adoption of sons. FATHER,
I have no personal hope of becoming good enough for Your Kingdom. Your
Law stands over me to condemn me. The Prophets have risen up to condemn
me. But, today I see my hope and my righteousness is in the One You sent
to redeem me. In Him I stand. Oh, I love You and Your Kingdom! CHILDREN OF THE KINGDOM LIVE BY A STANDARD HIGHER THAN THAT SET BY THE LAW. Christ Jesus has made this way for us. DAY 13Self-righteousness has no place in Gods Kingdom. Mt 5:19,20 Whosoever
therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach
men so, he shall be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven: but whosoever
shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the Kingdom
of Heaven. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed
the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter
into the Kingdom of Heaven. DAY 14Children of the Kingdom learn to deal with the hostility of angry people. Mt 5:21,22 Ye have
heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever
shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: but I say unto you, That
whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger
of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be
in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be
in danger of hell fire. DAY 15Children of the Kingdom become ministers of reconciliation. Mt 5:23,24 Therefore
if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother
hath ought against thee; leave there thy gift before the altar, and go
thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy
gift. I Cor 11:28 But let a man examine himself, and so
let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. DAY 16Children of the Kingdom learn to deal peaceably with those who oppose them. Mt 5:25,26 Agree
with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest
at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver
thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. Verily I say
unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid
the uttermost farthing. DAY 17Children of the Kingdom live by a high standard of personal purity. Mt 5:27,28 Ye have
heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
but I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her
hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. Pro 4:23
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of
life. DAY 18A child of the Kingdom, showing mercy to others, will deal harshly with his own sin. Mt 5:29,30 And if
thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it
is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not
that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right
hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable
for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole
body should be cast into hell. DAY 19In the matter of adultery, those who failed have but one hope: the mercy of God. Mt 5:31,32 It hath
been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing
of divorcement: but I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his
wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery:
and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. DAY 20A child of the Kingdom is called to speak pure, unadulterated words of truth. Mt 5:34-37 But I
say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by Heaven; for it is God's throne:
nor by the earth; for it is His footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it
is the city of the great King. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because
thou canst not make one hair white or black. But let your communication
be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
DAY 21The Lord Jesus laid out plainly how children of the Kingdom are to deal with their enemies. Mt 5:38-41 Ye have
heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
but I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite
thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will
sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.
And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give
to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not
thou away. © Berean Ministries
